Typography Tuesday: Packaging & Brand Identity Design for Meat Enthusiasts by Helms Workshop

Brand identity systems for burgers, bars and beverages always seems to be ripe with examples of effective typography, as demonstrated by creative firm, Helms Workshop.

We discovered Helms Workshop’s work in Communication Arts‘ 2012 Typography Annual, (another great source for typography inspiration), and were inspired by the packaging, logo and brand identity designs of the Austin, Texas-based firm. Handling corporate clients like AT&T, Toyota and HBO and musical artists like Spoon, Modest Mouse and Wilco, it’s clear that the firm enjoys a range of projects.

The brand identity design for Frank, a “mecca for bacon-lovers, beer-guzzlers and encased meat enthusiasts,” is a great representation of the creative firm’s signature typographic style. About the project, Helms states “our goal was not just to create a celebration of food, but to also build a culture and community.

Below, check out Helms Workshop’s design work for Frank, brand identity and packaging design for Fullsteam Brewery, CD packaging design for Ben Kweller’s Changing Horses album (ATO Records0, and brand identity design for Standard Grit, a self-initiated venture making hand-crafted limited edition textiles in the south.
