Branding 10,000 Lakes, One Logo and One Day at a Time
Add Branding 10,000 Lakes to your list of daily reads- it promises to be active for the next three decades.
Why that long? Twenty seven years is how long it will take for graphic designer Nicole Meyer to accomplish her public goal of re-designing 10,000 logos for each of Minnesota’s lakes.
On her Website, Branding 10,000 Lakes (www.branding10000lakes.com), Meyers publishes a new logo daily- each one as unique as the lake it represents.
“Lake logos have a tendency to be, well, fairly ugly. This project was created to rethink what they could be,” she states.
In an article published by the Star Tribune, Meyer explains how this personal design project began as an outlet for her nostalgia for Minnesota home while living in Arizona.
And guess what, the logos are pretty fantastic. From logotypes to icons, using a variety of typefaces and color options, Branding 10,000 Lakes certainly demonstrates Meyer’s dynamic range of commercial design styles.
