“I AM NO LONGER CONCERNED WITH SENSATION AND INNOVATION, BUT WITH THE PERFECTION OF MY STYLE.”
–YVES SAINT LAURENT
In conjunction with the Seattle Art Museum, the Yves Saint Laurent: The Perfection of Style exhibition opens on Oct. 11, 2016 and runs through Jan. 8, 2017. This is where you come in, FIDM Students and Grads. In honor of Laurent and the new exhibition, Seattle Art Museum is hosting a contest for fashion students and graduates which aims for them to sketch a modern design that draws inspiration from one of three significant YSL looks (see below). A group of finalists will be selected to produce their looks, and the top three winners will display their designs in the museum during the actual exhibition. Who wouldn’t want their work next to the likes of Yves Saint Laurent?
Sketch entries are due July 15, 2016. Finalists invited to create designs are notified on Aug. 1. The top three designers will be announced on Oct. 1, 2016. Happy sketching! Enter here: seattleartmuseum.org/yslcontest
