The FIDM Digital Arts team was fortunate enough to attend this year’s E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) video game convention in downtown Los Angeles- an annual tradition for us. If there is one thing we have learned from attending this event year after year, it is the fact that the video game industry knows how to cut an impressive trailer!
Whether video game trailers are short, long, CG, or include all in-game footage, the most successful ones convey their games’ look and feel while simultaneously building a sense of hype around the games’ launch. Ant Farm, one of Hollywood’s leading entertainment and brand marketing agencies and employer to Digital Media Alumni of FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, are pros at this craft. Ant Farm continues its work on Activision’s “Call of Duty,” having created the lead assets for every iteration of that game series since the first installment. Ant Farm is also heavily involved in the campaigns for Ubisoft’s properties, “Watch Dogs” and “Assassins Creed” — marking the fourth title in the “AC” series to which the agency has heavily contributed. FIDM Digital Media Alumni such as Games Capture Director Jay Trumbull are currently working there. Read more about Trumbull here.
This year, Youtube launched an E3 Trailer Battle on their website that allows viewers to watch and vote for their favorite trailers, earning achievements along the way.
Below are just a few of our favorite most exciting and visually impressive trailers released this year at E3 2015.
Official XCOM 2
Star Wars Battlefront: Multiplayer Gameplay
Just Cause 3
