Motion Monday: Submissions Now Open for the 2012 Vimeo Festival & Awards

Vimeo has announced its call for entries for the 2012 Vimeo Festival & Awards, which celebrates “the best in online video.”

Deadline: February 20, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time

Cost: The Entry Fee is U.S. $20.00 for the general public and U.S. $5.00 for Vimeo Plus subscribers or Vimeo PRO subscribers.

Details: Vimeo is seeking short videos that “are based on an interesting concept; are innovative; are well crafted; and create an emotional resonance.”

Categories include narrative, documentary, music video, motion graphics, animation, remix, captured, series, experimental, action sports, fashion, lyrical, and advertising.

Grants of $5,000 will be awarded to the winners of each category, and a grant of $25,000 will be presented to the winner of the Best Video Award. Entrants can submit any original work that premiered anywhere online between July 31, 2010 and February 20, 2012, or any original work that has never been premiered.

The 2012 Vimeo Festival + Awards will be held in New York City June 7-9.
