Typography Tuesday: Inspiring Hand-Lettered Type for Web, Branding and Music Packaging by NY-Based Firm, Dirty Bandits

Dirty Bandits is a Brooklyn-based design firm specializing in typography, lettering and illustration under the creative direction of Annica Lydenberg. As explained on her bio page, Lydenberg is “fueled by her deep obsession with type,” and as a graphic designer, has been paying close attention to typography for many years and focusing on treating letters and words as art.

Dirty Bandits’ client list includes independent record labels, venues, artists and designers, like Blackheart Records (see the Joan Jett and the Blackhearts Greatest Hits album packaging design, below), The Ace Hotel, and young adult author, Samantha Schulz. The firm also offers prints for sale, like the 2012 Silly Holidays calendar (shown below).

See examples of amazing typographic work below, and more here.

Dirty Bandits Web design and brand identity for Samantha Schultz

Above: “Samantha Schutz is an author of young adult novels written entirely in verse. Her first book, I Don’t Want to be Crazy, is a memoir about living with anxiety disorder. For Samantha we used all hand drawn type to create a Website design, promotional bookmark and new business card.”
