Leading fashion forecast and trend analysis company Stylesight focuses its attention on the iPhone case, an ever-popular and highly functional must-have accessory for the masses in a recent graphic design trend report aptly named The Printed iPhone Case.
“iPhone covers gain interest, decorated in an array of bold, colorful patterns, becoming a must-have accessory for all,” states Stylesight in its trend watch feature report.
One trend cited includes the emergence of spliced abstract geometric designs.
“For a fresh take on geometric patterns, designers opt for wooden textures clipped into clean, angular shapes,” states Stylesight.
Design elements that define this trend include:
- Wooden surfaces punctuated with bright pops of color
- Sliced photographs fused with geometric color blocking
- Fractured forms and abstract graphic compositions

Stylesight’s report inspired us to pinpoint another emerging trend in iPhone case graphics: organic illustrations. Graduating students of FIDM’s Graphic Design program often incorporate their own hand-drawn illustrations into their final graphic design portfolio, using iPhone case concepts as a medium.
