Film Friday: Tarantino, Fincher, Scorsese, Jackson, Cameron, Nolan & More Discuss Filmmaking

For aspiring artists, designers and filmmakers, it’s easy to let self-doubt spread and take over your mind like a virus. One of the quickest remedies for such sickness is to listen to honest interviews from successful creatives that inspire you because chances are, they were in similar situations as you throughout their careers.

Within the first thirty seconds of the video, Eli Roth immediately makes the audience feel less intimidated by relating on such a raw and simple level. Roth states, “I was always fascinated with the process of filmmaking. I grew up in Boston which is in the other end of the country from Hollywood and you know, people would say to me ‘you’ll never make it, you have to be born there, you have to know someone.’ I remember being literally thirteen years old at my bar mitzvah when the rhabi has to say what your going to do with your life, and he said…’Eli Roth is going to be a…Motion Picture Producer Director’.” It’s surprisingly common to hear from these directors how many people doubted them in their life before success ever came so never let that detour you.
