Every year, SPD (Society of Publication Designers) holds a professional competition to find the best editorial design out there and the SPD has officially announced the details for the 2011 Student Design Competition. Entries are due Monday, March 7th, 2011 at 5pm.
Students may submit up to five entries according to the categories and rules, and you could earn cash prizes, the Adobe Creative Suite software and, perhaps best of all, an internship at a leading magazine in New York. That means your entries must be in our office by 5pm that day. You can mail it, express-mail it or hand deliver it.
Current Student Members get their first 3 entries free. If you’re not a member, you can sign up now for $25 and get your first 3 entries free too. Otherwise, each entry is $10.
• First place: The Adobe Scholarship in Honor of B.W. Honeycutt–a $2,500 prize, the Adobe Creative Suite software, and a summer internship at one of the top magazines in New York.
• Second place: $1,000 prize, the Adobe Creative Suite software, and a summer internship at one of the top magazines in New York.
• Honorable Mention: We may choose one or more entries to receive Honorable Mention status which often includes a summer internship.
All winners will also be honored with an Award of Excellence and an invitation to SPD’s Annual Awards Gala in May 2011 in New York City. Award-winning work (including several honorable mentions) will be showcased on our student blog AND printed in our PUB 46 Design Annual along with all the professional competition winners.
