Remix Event Invitation featuring vinyl cover art reinterpreted by FIDM Instructor, Graham Moore.

Description: Using glue, scissors and collage-style techniques, Moore has developed a collection of vinyl album cover art, borrowing from his own personal album collection that pays homage to musical artists and graphic designers alike.

Reflecting Moore’s appreciation for music, collage technique and vinyl cover art, he hopes that the Remix exhibit will inspire onlookers to “get their hands dirty,” by stepping away from the computer and experiment using lo-fi cut-and-paste methods with glue, scissors and found ephemera.

“Everyone is so quick to jump to the computer,” he says. “There is a whole other way of creating art.”

Moore is a Graphic Design Instructor at FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising where he teaches Typography and Design I. He often uses album covers to demonstrate the fundamental principles and elements of design, which incorporate the vibrant use of color, balance, shape, and typography to develop a feeling of rhythm, motion and movement in a tactile media.

Like the majority of the instructors at FIDM, Moore is a working industry professional who balances work with his teaching schedule. He has worked for independent record companies producing packaging and related promotional material, and in design studios and advertising agencies in London, Dallas, and Los Angeles as an art director/senior designer. Freelance clients have included Neiman Marcus, JC Penney, USC, Samsung Music, Teleflora and Pier 1 Imports. Additionally, he has been awarded a Certificates of Excellence from Print Design Annual, and Outstanding Achievement from HOW Design Annual.
