The Red Dot, which is affiliated with the Los Angeles chapter of AIGA (the professional association for design) is under the advisement of FIDM Graphic Design Instructors, Alex Gardos and Joe Bautista and open to all current Los Angeles-campus Students who are earning their Graphic Design degree or Digital Media degree at FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.
This quarter, current FIDM Graphic Design/Branding Students Angelica Villegas and Bebe Palagab continue their roles as Student President and Vice President, respectively, and new student officers include Digital Media Students Abram Ake (Secretary) and Jassamine Domino (Digital Media Coordinator) and Graphic Design Students Aliyana Franklin (Social Media Coordinator) and Candace Peoples (Designer).
Some of the events this quarter include design studio tours to Undefeated Creative (founded by FIDM Graphic Design Alumnus Matthew Mau) and SapientNitro, a Red Dot Halloween mixer event, group outings to the Venice First Friday art walk, Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk and FIDM Museum & Galleries’ Ripped: Expressions from the Underground exhibition.
The Red Dot is also hosting a special graphic design poster activity focused on the upcoming United States Presidential Election called “Get Out the Vote.”

“Get Out the Vote!” Poster Design Campaign
Encourage students to vote in the U.S. Presidential Election on Tuesday, November 6th by designing an 11 x 17″ poster or video to be featured in the graphic design labs, on the Red Dot Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr, and FIDM Tumblr!
Eligibility: Open to current Red Dot members
- 11 x 17″ size PDF or .mov (use WeTransfer or similar for files that are less than 25mb)
- Message should be political party-neutral
- Email to email@example.com by November 3rd @midnight
This is a perfect opportunity to promote yourself, the group, and show your patriotism
