We love featuring the work of graduating FIDM Digital Media Students, who learn all aspects of film post-production including editing, motion graphics, sound design and so much more, and Emily Müller is no exception. While most college programs teach students specific aspects of filmmaking, such as editing, directing or cinematography, FIDM Digital Media Students learn a foundation in multiple aspects, laying the groundwork to pursue an array of film careers.
FIDM Digital Media Alumna Müller graduated earlier this year and has since worked as an ecommerce intern for DASH Boutique, in addition to freelancing through an entertainment industry temp agency. At DASH, Müller assists the e-commerce team to photograph and edit products for the company’s website (shopdashonline.com).
“It’s a very hands-on job, and it’s great because I use a lot of skills I learned in the Digital Media program at FIDM,” she says. “I loved that the Digital Media program is so diverse with what it teaches; we learned a large scope of trades, which will allow us to be flexible within the industry. I also love that our small class sizes allowed us to become a tight-knit family.”
Müller’s interests run the gamut from set decoration to producing, and cinematography.
“I love the entertainment industry because it has the ability to reach people throughout the world, the opportunity to bring joy to people’s lives, and the power to challenge what is considered ‘normal’ and acceptable in society,” she says. “To have a career in the entertainment industry is to take part in that influence. If I’m able to do that– to help people– that’s the biggest reward ever.”
