While many California colleges and high schools are welcoming students back to school as September begins, FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising has been in full swing since July.
With Labor Day around the corner, finals week is looming and students in their last quarter of FIDM’s graphic design program are anticipating their final portfolio review presentations later this month.
There’s no doubt that industry feedback is a major component to any aspiring graphic designer’s success, which is why Print Magazine’s upcoming “Portfolio Review” competition might be of interest to all graduating students.
Every entry submitted in Print’s Portfolio Review will be featured in an online gallery, but the real draw to enter is the judges lineup, which includes:
Mirko Ilić (Mirko Ilić Corp.),
Natasha Jen (Pentagram),
Debbie Millman (Sterling Brands; AIGA president emeritus),
Scott Stowell (Open), and
Jessica Walsh (Sagmeister & Walsh)
With Print being a sister publication to leading graphic design trade magazine HOW, chances are that its promise to expose graphic designers’ work to “thousands of designers, art directors, and others in the industry” will hold true.
Any art director, graphic designer, illustrator, photography, or typographer from anywhere in the world is eligible to submit work online, or snail-mail their portfolio in. Entry fees cost $85 for standard entries, $50 for students and five winners will be selected to attend the 2013 HOW Design Live conference. For more information, click here.
