Students earning their graphic design degree at FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising’s San Francisco campus have been involved in a unique industry project throughout this year, designing promotional products for Old Navy to celebrate the company’s flagship store makeover, which reopened this month.
Old Navy looked to FIDM’s Graphic Design Students to develop “hip and fresh” gift items within a specific budget which were distributed to customers during Old Navy’s “Grand Reveal” flagship store events.
Students worked first-hand with Old Navy team members to gain feedback on their product concepts and three designs were selected for production, including Erin Opperman’s charming magnetic poetry kit, Caroline Qvale’s stadium blanket and holder, and Regina Gomez’s texting gloves and scarf.
“This was a priceless opportunity for students to learn first hand what happens as they develop ideas and work with clients to meet their needs and budgets,” says Lisa Hoffman, FIDM/SF Graphic Design Department Coordinator. “Things changed from concept to delivery, but everyone was very happy with the outcome.”
