Motion Graphics Monday: Watch A Boombox Transform Into A Robot In Nickelodeon’s ‘Nick Karaoke’ Promo

It’s not often I find myself feeling nostalgic when discovering new inspiring motion graphics videos, but today was an exception. When browsing through the latest works from one of my favorite creative agencies Abundant Productions, I noticed Nickelodeon’s logo and was immediately intrigued. The television network Nickelodeon was a staple of my childhood due to the amount of hours I consumed on a daily basis during the pre-Internet era. Specific campaigns from the company’s vivid branding sticks out in my mind to this day.

To maintain this in-your-face style of memorable graphics, Nickelodeon turned to Abundant Productions to rebrand the promo of “Nick Karaoke.” The sequence itself beautifully illustrates a “Transformers” style evolution from an old school boom box to a full-fledged music loving, headphone wearing, robot rockstar.
