Motion Monday: Ryan Woodward’s Animated “Thought of You” Film Will Touch Your Heart

Hollywood artist and animator Ryan J Woodward combines the arts of animation and dance in this touching short film, Thought of You. Compiled from more than 20,000 individual drawings based on original choreography by contemporary dancer Kori Wakamatsu, Woodward successfully captures the fluid, graceful motion of the dancing duo that stir the heart.

The independent project was truly a labor of love for the animator whose screen credits include The Avengers, Snow White and the Huntsman, Ironman 2, Cowboys and Aliens, Spiderman 2 and Spiderman 3, The Iron Giant, and Space Jam. According to his website, Woodward “created, designed, wrote, penciled, animated, composed, directed and produced” Thought of You which won several prestigious awards and is currently rated in the top 10 highest animation plays on Vimeo.com. We’re not the first ones to be captivated by the flick– at the time of this article’s publication, the video has more than 4.7 million views on YouTube.

According to a recent interview with Wired, Woodward has also released an animated graphic novel for iPad “Bottom of the Ninth,” a futuristic story about heroism and baseball.
