Formerly of A&M Records and Vice President of Creative Services at All American Communications, Doug Haverty has taught many Graphic Design courses at FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. He still takes on new projects, often merging his passion for music and design, through his design firm Art & Soul Design in Burbank, CA.
“Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Inside Out by Doug Haverty and Adryan Russ throws a boldly bright spotlight on the positive loving effects of group therapy,” says Don Grigware of BroadWayWorld.com who gave it a 5/5 “Critics Choice” rating. The play itself is set in the late 1980s where a women’s therapy group, headed by group leader, Grace, is transformed forever when Dena joins the group and winds up being a catalyst for change in the lives of Sage, a flower child; Liz, a powerful businesswoman who has problems balancing work and home; Chlo, a gay bank employee and single mom of a teenage son; and Molly, a mother of two young children who is dealing with weight and work issues. Featuring tuneful, memorable music and insightful lyrics, Inside Out is every bit as timely today as it was when it premiered Off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theater. And for the next few weeks, you still have an opportunity to see it!
Haverty’s award-winning plays and musicals have been produced around the world. “Could I Have This Dance?” was named “Best New Play” by The American Theatre Critics Association. His works have been presented at Cherry Lane, Charlotte Rep., Laguna Playhouse, Phoenix Theatre, Florida Studio, Theatre West, The Colony, Theatre 40, The Lyric, Here Performing Arts Center, Long Island Stage, Theatre in the Square and the Lobero, to name a few. Published works include: The Ghost of Gershwin (a musical), In My Mind’s Eye, Inside Out (a musical), Could I Have This Dance?, Flavia & The Dream Maker (a musical) and more.
