Real stories. Real students. Get real on In the Lab.
In the Lab is a web series that takes you behind the scenes of a day in the life of Digital Media and Graphic Design Students and Alumni at FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. Check out these young designers and film-makers, who share their stories and their best practices on In the Lab, video web series on the FIDMDigitalArts.com Blog.
In this video, FIDM Graphic Design/Entertainment Student Christa Morris uses Photoshop to build a movie poster for feature film Columbiana. Christa also loves to crochet, and is a photographer and is an avid blogger when she isn’t designing movie posters.

Hometown: Chino, CA
High School: Don Antonio Lugo H.S.
“In high school I was always the ‘artsy one,'” she says. “I created posters for rallies with cheap paint! I wanted to take my passion for drawing and creativity to the next level and the graphic design major fit perfectly.”
Design Skills: Drawing, warping and creating stylized type in Illustrator, designing movie posters and editing photos in Photoshop, blogging and designing blogs, taking lifestyle and wedding photography.
Why she chose graphic design: “Back in the ‘MySpace days,’ I used to hack my HTML and make it look how I wanted. When I began blogging, I did the same thing and now I create custom designs for bloggers like me! I also work for a church where I get to do a lot of graphics for the student ministries department and work with my photography.”
Dream Job: Working at an ad agency to create key art (a.k.a. movie posters for feature films), or become a business owner creating photography, prints and paintings.
