Have you ever stumbled across a video so stimulating you had no choice but to watch it over and over again? If so, you are not alone. I watched this video over a dozen times and every time I noticed something new that inspires and impresses me. The illustration, motion style, and transitions are executed flawlessly. There are no characters, plot, or anything recognizable from our world which might be why I enjoy it so much. The video has such a psychedelic feel that I can’t help but be reminded of the famous scene from Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece, 2001: A Space Odyssey.
‘Genesis’ is a motion graphics illustrative video created for the 2013 Berlin Pictoplasma Festival where it was the 4th Pictoplasma Residency Award 2013 winner. It was directed by Argentinian visual artist, illustrator, and designer Francisco Miranda. Miranda was born in the city of Buenos Aires and graduated from the University of Buenos Aires where he currently serves as a professor. He has worked with many big name clients such as Pepsi, MTV, and IAE Magazine. Be sure to check out just a few of the awesome illustrations from ‘Genesis’ below.
The video’s animation, compositing, editing, and sound design were executed by Argentinian art director, designer, and animator Guillermo Daldovo. Daldovo has worked in studios in countries all over the world including Spain, Germany, Italy, Costa Rico and Colombia. His reel is also worth checking out and can be found below.
