The Red Dot student club, an AIGA design student association at FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising Los Angeles, invites all current students earning their graphic design or digital media degree to attend the first meeting of the Spring Quarter this Wednesday, May 1 at 11:15 a.m. in room 519. Come meet The Red Dot’s new student officers and hear about upcoming graphic design and digital media events planned for this quarter, including a group outing to Stefan Sagmeister’s current exhibition “The Happy Show” at the MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art).
FIDM Student members of The Red Dot, which is affiliated with the Los Angeles chapter of AIGA (the professional association for design) and under the advisement of FIDM Graphic Design Instructors Alex Gardos and Joe Bautista, gain access to various design-related benefits and entrance to professional and social events with their local design community.
“Joining The Red Dot is advantageous to my fellow Graphic Design and Digital Media students because of benefits, benefits, and more benefits,” says Candace Peoples, FIDM Graphic Design Student and current president of The Red Dot. “Not only does being a member of the AIGA Red Dot Student Group look fantastic on a resume, but students get a chance to explore the design community outside of the lab, and outside of the classroom. We’ve visited studio tours, art exhibitions, and much more.”
Other student officers for the Spring Quarter include FIDM Graphic Design Students Aliyana Franklin (vice president), Rachelle Swanner (secretary) and Aubree Beltran (social media coordinator).
“It can be a challenge sometimes to adventure through the world of design alone, but when you are involved with a group of people who are as hungry as you, it makes the experience so much more exhilarating,” says Peoples. ” We are really focusing on bringing some new, great things to the table this quarter, so get involved!”
