Graphic Design Legend David Carson to Art Direct New Magazine, CARSON in 2011

David Carson is a living legend within the design industry as a graphic designer whose influence has been particularly prominent within magazine and publication design with his experimental typography. Check out this great video featuring Carson and his work, created by Hillman Curtis.

This month, Carson designed two magazine covers for London-based Huck and Little White Lies (shown below), and next year will be working as creative director for Los Angeles-based CARSON, dedicated to “quality in design, fine art, illustration, photography and writing.” The magazine will be published six times a year.

Check out the CARSON Website here. The site states:

“Creative Director David Carson has won over 170 awards for his work in graphic design, had numerous one man exhibitions of his work worldwide, and has been called the ‘Art Director of the Era’ by Creative Review London. USA Today called his work ‘visually stunning,’ and claimed “it may actually get young people reading again. David Byrne said of Carson’s work: ‘It communicates. But on a level beyond words. Just like music does — slipping in there before anyone has a chance to stop it at the border and ask for papers.'”
