Graphic Design student Marc Blaskovits’ T-shirt design has been chosen to promote the City of Los Angeles’ participation in Fashion’s Night Out, a global shopping event sponsored by Vogue and The Council of Fashion Designers of America on Friday, September 10. Blaskovits’ T-shirt has been featured on The LA Times Website and in an online promotion video with Nick Verreos for the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s office Website.
The LA Times describes Blaskovits’ design as reminiscent of “last year’s FNO [Fashion’s Night Out] New York T-shirt- designed by Alexander Wang and others- but the sideways palms are a pure L.A. touch that elevates the visual of a gritty cityscape to something more akin to an urban oasis.” The proceeds from the sale of the T-shirts will be donated to the California Fashion Foundation to fund scholarships for fashion students.
“I liked the idea of using the L.A. skyline, but wanted to include images of the beach and palm trees to represent what makes L.A. original and unique,” says Blaskovits.
With a previous degree in fashion design that he earned in France, Blaskovits says he would like to land a job creating graphics for a high-end fashion brand like Dolce & Gabbana after completed his degree at FIDM. He’s hoping his involvement with LA’s Fashion’s Night Out will help him earn exposure in the fashion industry.
“I was really excited when my design was chosen,” he says. “But the best part is hopefully earning some attention for myself and my designs.”
Blaskovits’ T-shirts are on sale now at the Los Angeles FIDM Bookstore for $15. For more information about LA’s Fashion’s Night Out, click here.
