Attention Animators, Motion Graphics Aficionados: You Really Can’t Miss “Motionographer”

motionographer_logoBe forewarned: if you appreciation animation, motion graphics, or just plain good design, Motionographer just may consume the next couple of hours of your time if you haven’t yet discovered this little gem of a Website. Motionographer (pronounced like “oceanographer”) “seeks to be a source of inspiration for filmmakers, animators and designers by sharing: outstanding work from studios, freelancers and students, feature stories that give readers a closer look at influential studios and individuals, commentary that sparks discussion or introspection about the creative process, and miscellaneous items that Motionographer contributors find interesting.”

“Motionographer isn’t just about motion graphics. Inspiration can come from anywhere, and the Motionographer contributors hope to provide you with interesting material regardless of the medium in which it was created.

The site offers a plethora of excellence in design across all mediums, and also separates its student-relevant content from industry-related content, and offers a job board. My favorite part is exploring the “Cream o’ the Crop” section, featuring (unpaid) links to the top 10 design studio Websites selected by the Motionographer editors. After noticing Psyop, my all-time favorite advertising agency on the “Cream O’ the Crop” list, I couldn’t help but feel an immediate sense of respect for these editors’ picks.

Check out the full site here (perhaps only if you’ve got the time).
