Featured Design Competition: The 2011 D&AD Student Awards

d&adThe D&AD Student Awards is an annual international design student award competition based in England, but open to design students all over the world. Developed in 1962 by a group of designers and art directors who came together to celebrate creative communication and raise standards within their industry, the D&AD Student Awards offers a variety of design challenges, sponsored by major corporations to support and encourage creativity and high standards of excellence in the design community.

The 22 judges from the United States this year include Stephen Doyle of Doyle Partners, Michael Beirut of Pentagram and Karin Fong of Imaginary Forces.

D&AD Design Annual 2010

The D&AD10: The Best Advertising and Design in the World featuring the best work from the D&AD 2010 Awards was published by TACHEN, who will partner with the D&AD for a second time  to feature more than 500 works representing “the best in advertising, design and interactive from around the world” in 2011.

 

IKEA Color Web

The 2010 Student of the Year Award went to an advertising campaign sponsored by IKEA, the homewares retailer that challenged students to promote their new catalogue by inspiring ‘a wave of boundless change in peoples’ homes.’  Jessica Reynolds and Serena Wise created a campaign that allows shoppers to browse the catalogue by using a color wheel of products; creating swatches to play with different combinations.
