Through events and online programs, Cut&Paste supports artists, firms and media working to strengthen creative networks. Born in New York City in November 2005, Cut&Paste’s signature event is the Digital Design Tournament, held live throughout the world each year. The 2010 tour takes place in ten cities around the globe. Cut&Paste additionally powers design-driven contests and events with industry partners worldwide.
The finalists from all international events will converge in New York to conclude the tour with the Global Championship, where one winner in each field will be crowned the victor. This is a design battle royale to launch designers into the spotlight and offer the audience the unique experience of sharing the creative process. This year’s tour will extend beyond the stage with audience meet and greets and the Cut&Paste: Show&Tell series, presenting an insightful how-to with some of the brightest minds in the design community.
San Francisco Preliminary Round
Sunshiney San Francisco wakes up to memories of gold-rushing crazes, rainbow-striped protests, and summers of love.
In its long history as a leading city on the Pacific, this old town’s been knocked down more than once—earthquakes and fires, bursting dot-com bubbles—and always gotten back on its feet. Today, the City by the Bay stands tall as a bastion of liberal attitudes, free spirits, and open arms. Hills nestled against lapping waves and streets bustling with geek savants, bon vivants, cosmopolites, and one of the largest creative communities in the world, San Francisco brings its fair share of aesthetic genius to the tournament.
