Allan Peters is a Senior Art Director from Minneapolis whose work has been recognized by professional design associations and publications like AIGA, Print, HOW, and ID. Peters’ work reflects a range of talent whether he’s developing logos for Nike, major ad campaigns for Target (for which he currently serves as Senior Art Director), print marketing materials for ad firm BBDO’s 80th anniversary party, or his own personal baby announcements.
Peters shares a bit of his design philosophy on his Website when it comes to poster design.
“I was taught that a good poster should have a surprise at 50 feet, at five feet and at five inches,” he says of a Target ad campaign. “This campaign accomplishes that. From 50 feet you read it as a giant cropped bullseye. From five feet you notice that there are people having a good time on the bullseye. At five inches you notice the detailed styling with pops of color and bold patterns.”
You’ve probably seen Peters’ design work for Target (as we have at L.A. Live in the heart of downtown Los Angeles near FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising)– but you ought to check out his full portfolio for more typography, brand identity and graphic design inspiration (click here to see his full portfolio).
