To celebrate portfolio week, we wanted to share some great resources from design publication, HOW magazine, and creative staffing agency, The Creative Group (TCG), who recently published some new information about perfecting your creative portfolio.
In the article, Six Tips to Perfect your Portfolio on HOW, The Creative Group shares the following tips, based on their guide Creating and Presenting a Powerful Portfolio, which was published last month and available for FREE download at this link.
Check out six tips below:
1. Start Strong, End Strong
2. Don’t Put Style Above Substance.
Based on TCG’s research, advertising and marketing executives said the most common portfolio mistake is including work that doesn’t show value (see the image below).
3. Show the Right Number of Samples.
4. Tailor Your Materials.
5. Display Professional Polish.
6. Finesse Your Presentation.
TCG developed their guide after interviewing advertising and marketing executives, as well as creative thought leaders and staffing teams who “interact with hiring managers daily and have a keen sense of what employers look for when reviewing portfolios.”
