How Much Money are Designers Making in 2010?

Check out how your salary measures up against your peers in the 2010 AIGA|Aquent Survey of Design Salaries.

AIGA/Aquent 2010 Survey of Design Salaries

The AIGA offers a link to calculate  the average salary of jobs within the graphic design, advertising, publishing, and web development industries by geographic region. The report can also be downloaded for free, (with registration) at (check out page 34 for the results of entry-level designers). The AIGA|Aquent Survey of Design Salaries is an annual publication by AIGA, commissioned with the support of its partner Aquent, AIGA’s official sponsor for professional development, and in cooperation with Communication Arts magazine. So, how is the communication design professional doing in this economic downturn? According to Richard Grefe at AIGA,  the drop in employment has been “selective but not sweeping” in the design industry. According to the survey, for recent graduates, the job opportunities for us (where available), were often low-paying, or unpaid internships, without benefits, says Grefe.
