Academy Award Nominations are in! Watch Trailers for all of the Best Picture Nominees

The 85th Academy Award nominees have been announced and front-runner films include “Lincoln” with 12 nominations including Best Picture with a Best Director nomination for Steven Spielberg who has won twice before for “Schindler’s List” and “Saving Private Ryan.”

“Life of Pi” also has a notable 11 nominations, followed by “Les Miserables” and “Silver Linings Playbook” with eight nominations each and “Argo” with seven.

Los Angeles Magazine provides a great synopsis of this year’s “feted and snubbed” filmmakers in “Oscar Nominations 2013: Shafted and Drafted“, pointing to “Argo” director and actor, Ben Affleck, who was overlooked in the Best Director category stating,

Argo earned seven nominations most notably for Alan Arkin as Best Supporting Actor, so what does star and director Affleck have to complain about? The fact that the film didn’t receive a Best Directing or Best Actor nod. Instead, the Academy doled out a consolation prize: a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.”

Expect to see many of the Academy Award-nominated costumes at FIDM Museum & Galleries for its 21st Annual Art of Motion Picture Costume Design exhibition from February 12 through April 27. Nominees include:

  • “Anna Karenina” Jacqueline Durran
  • “Les Misérables” Paco Delgado
  • “Lincoln” Joanna Johnston
  • “Mirror Mirror” Eiko Ishioka
  • “Snow White and the Huntsman” Colleen Atwood

Although we haven’t seen all of the flicks up for Best Picture, somehow we feel like watching the trailers helps us experience a taste of the movie magic. Below, we’ve published the Best Picture nominees. Scroll down for a complete list of categories and nominees.
