Attention Typography Nerds: Don’t Miss “Typefruitography”

Aspiring graphic designer Garret Steider published these photos in his Flickr stream featuring “Typefruitography”, a project combining some of my favorite things: photography, typography and food. Some of the typeface choices aren’t necessarily my favorite, but I have to give props to Steider because it looks like he intentionally hand-carved letters that replicate the corresponding typeface used to spell out the names of the edibles.

“My inspiration for the project was to create a children’s book. I love typography and food, and kids learn their alphabet through things like ‘A is for apple’, and the idea jumped from there!” says Steider in an interview with FIDMDigitalarts.com. ”I also love the vintage style of photography and just the style in general.”

Steider says he admires designers Paul Tebbott, Tom Lane of Ginger Monkey, Kid Grandios, and Christopher Paul. “They each have a unique style, and they all produce fantastic work!” he says.  He also looks to Blogs Abduzeedo, From Up North, and the Behance Network for design inspiration.

Steider has compiled the entire “Typefruitography” project in an electronic book (below). To view in full screen, click the “expand” button below. To view Steider’s Flickr stream click here.
